It was quiet right here in Ketchikan—quieter than she’d anticipated from a spot the place the seaplanes dropped folks off. At the same time as she glanced as much as see eagles flying overhead, they didn’t make a sound. Or, extra probably, they have been too far-off for her to listen to them.
She arrived on the two-story brilliant blue constructing that housed the native airline. Supposedly there was a taxi stand simply past the constructing.
She seemed round—there was nobody exterior. No transferring vehicles. Nothing.
It was as if all of the folks have been hiding.
That’s when she heard a low-pitched chuffing. A bear was close by. Then she heard a snort, simply as loud.
She seemed towards the blue constructing and noticed the double glass doorways. She sprinted to the doorways and tried to yank the suitable one open.
Then somebody inside noticed her and opened the door. “Are available, quick!”
