I’m Johanna Rothman, and that is 60 Seconds of Johanna’s WIP for February 2, 2024, the place I learn an excerpt of only a minute of some writing in progress.
This excerpt is from my story in Thrill Journey journal, which will likely be printed later this 12 months. Because it’s not but printed, I’m declaring this in progress. See the hyperlink beneath to help the Kickstarter.
Cracking her gum in time to the swish-swish of the windshield wipers, Leah Thomas held her arms above the steering wheel because it jerked from left to proper and again once more. Simply because the small autonomous SUV struggled, lurching from left to proper and again once more. All to keep up its progress because it discovered its approach by way of the slim and winding snow and ice-covered Chelsea, Massachusetts streets.
At simply previous 4 within the morning, the mid-February snow fell silently. However the snow tires—thank goodness—crunched over the earlier twelve hours of snow, ice, and who knew what else on the roads. Leah preferred her job as a take a look at driver.
More often than not that job was the equal of babysitting even in solar, rain, or the lifeless of night time.
Not right this moment. She was approach too nervous now, particularly with new firmware and new software program doing the driving in a nor’easter. Her nerves have been tight particularly with a nearly new automotive in the dead of night with snow coming down at virtually an inch an hour.
