The Previous Dominion soccer program introduced this week it can put on the college’s vintage “racetrack” logo on its helmets throughout its Sept. 23 Homecoming sport in opposition to Texas A&M-Commerce.
The geometric brand was created in 1973 by Robert McCullough, who was chairman of the college’s artwork division, and was a focal a part of the Monarchs’ model till 1986, once they replaced it with a regal lion wearing a crown.
This transfer was unpopular with college students and school because of the similarity to the brand utilized by Meals Lion, a regional grocery store chain within the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern United States, although it remained the college’s official brand till 2002.

In fact, Previous Dominion didn’t have a soccer program from 1941-2008, so it will mark the primary time the brand seems on the Monarchs’ helmet. They’ll put on it with their Hudson blue uniforms, together with the Hudson blue helmet that was launched final season.
