I’ve modified my schedule so Monday is my longest experience of the week. That is the experience I’ll be ramping up every week till I do a metric century a while later this month (one among two Strava challenges I signed up for in March). Yesterday’s experience (on Strava here) was 41 miles in slightly below 3 hours half-hour, leaving me pleasantly drained. I had meant this to be my first “Beaumont block” of the 12 months, however needed to reduce it brief as a result of I needed to repair a flat. I obtained this time period from Mark Beaumont’s description of his around the world biking report (The Man Who Cycled the World).
He achieved his wonderful common every day mileage by using 4 blocks of 4 hours every day, with a brief break in between, after which one longer every day break. So I did nearly one 4 hour block at present. I don’t assume I might have been able to get again on the bike and do one other block after a brief break, that’s one thing I’d need to work as much as. I can see myself doing presumably two blocks. However not 4, and positively not averaging 4 for 78 days in a row which is what Mark did for the record.
